Newwave Communications

Newwave Communications was founded in 2003 by owners Tom Gleason, Jim Gleason and Keith Davidson. With headquarters in Sikeston, Missouri,  Newwave currently owns systems in Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee serving over 100,000 customers. Newwave began its Illinois operation in late 2006 with the acquisition of several systems serving southern Illinois in the Mt. Carmel, Carmi, Fairfield, Grayville, Albion and Mcleansboro area also with systems in Sparta, Chester, Anna, Jonesboro and Vandalia.  Shortly after acquiring these systems, work began to upgrade the infrastructure where advanced services such as high speed internet, digital telephone service and high definition service could be offered.

In late 2007 the company was able to acquire another group of systems that served the central Illinois communities of Taylorville, Litchfield, Carlinville, Raymond, Farmersville, Virden, Girard, Auburn, Nokomis, Pana, Shelbyville, Hillsboro, and Gillespie. Almost immediately work began to upgrade these systems for advanced services and to consolidate multiple head end sites into a single master site by building a fiber optic backbone tying all these communities together.  By March 2008, the company had successfully rolled out high definition service as well as offering DVRs for customers in Litchfield, Taylorville and Shelbyville.  In July 2008 digital telephony service was launched in Taylorville and Shelbyville followed closely by several more areas in this cluster.  Upgrades are approximately 60% complete with another 30% being completed by mid 2009 and will provide for over 90% of our 24,000 customers to have advanced services available to them.

In addition to the system upgrades, the Illinois region has now opened 5 new local offices.  Now known as communication stores, the company  remodeled or constructed these to present a welcoming and open environment for customers to enjoy while visiting.  All offices have the same consistent appearance and were created to offer a showroom, retail display area where offered services can be displayed and viewed by visiting consumers.  Our Regional office is located in Taylorville in the old Nashville North building and we invite any of our association members to stop by and say hello if they are through here. In just a short time, the Illinois Region has completed a large task, and looks forward to the challenges ahead, which will include more upgrades and roll outs while providing thousands of loyal customers with superior products and superior value.
